1. Define failures and attacks

To have breakdowns and attacks, the first thing is to define them. To do this, use the Failures button on the ribbon (Build group) :

The displayed window lists :

If you are broadcasting the network and want to prevent people from knowing about all the outages and attacks you have placed, define a password which will restrict access to this window.

Keeping this window open allows you to find options in the context menu to define a failure/attack :

The definition of attacks has many possibilities. See the details of each in the following pages.

2. Launch failures and attacks

The simulator offers 3 simulation speeds. Black icons prevent failures and attacks, while red ones enable operation with breakdowns and attacks :

In breakdown/attack mode, hardware failures are effective immediately (cable cut for example). Software failures (ransomware for example) are also activated immediately, while the attacks (at the origin of these software failures) can be launched automatically or manually. This is useful during multiple switchovers "without failure/attack", "with failure/attack", in order to avoid, for example, that too large a number of emails are sent.
